Chairman's Report on 2006
AGM 20th January 2007
In
Spring, there was a
3 month long exhibition of member’s work at Salford Art Gallery and Museum, which proved very successful and
was attended by many visitors.

|
The
Club also
displayed their carvings at Woodfest Wales for 3 days at the beginning
of June,
and several members gave demonstrations of carving techniques. The
event was
attended by over 25,000 visitors during the 3 days, and there was a
great deal
of interest in our display.

| Our
close relationship
with the Parks Department in Burnley has
continued, with displays at the festivals held in Thompsons, Queens, and Towneley Parks. |
 |
 |
In
connection with the
major heritage lottery facelift going on at Towneley Park, we were also commissioned to execute a set of
relief carvings, on a
nature theme, on a set of new picnic tables. The work is complete and
the
tables are now in regular use
|
Members
carved animals for a Noahs Ark Project, run by the Geisler Moroder
School of
Carving in Austria, in connection with a charity for homeless
children. It was
gratifying to see some details of our
entries in the American “Chip Chats” magazine.

Another club
project, carving bottle stoppers
and pencil ends, produced an interesting display at the end of the year |
. The
Chairman also
remarked on usefulness of our new photographic and electronic equipment
which
allows recording of demonstrations and subsequent projection, so that
we can
now see demonstrations in close up. This was all obtained as a result
of a
Lottery grant.
