We had seen a demonstration by  Jonathon when we visited the West Ridings Carvers, and thought that he was so good that we must get him to talk to us.    He brings a different perspective on carving, not only working in stone but carving on a commerial basis.      His "commercial" rose carving was an eye opener.    Obviously it was something that he had done many times and the economy of effort that went into the carving was inspiring.    We had an interesting discussion about the differences between lettercarving in wood, which he has not attempted, and lettering on stone that is his bread and butter.
