We had two great
talks.
First we had John Hallow
from the Whalley carving group. He uses found wood and has the
whole of the Ribble estuary’s drift wood to choose from. If
nothing else they made wonderful stands. His bird carvings were
great and he carved the feet and legs for which many bird carvers buy in metal
castings. John Finished with a ‘What wood is this’ contest which
Paul won with an impressive 11 out of 20 correct answers.
John was going to hand the bits of wood out to members but
we persuaded him to let us keep the whole lot together so that we can use it
again at say Christmas.
The we had Angela Johnson
from Sydney wood
carvers who showed us a selection of the members work which was all very
impressive. She followed this with pictures of a carving course
she had been on in Thailand. Again it was
very impressive.
