Nick Pantelides - Bone Carving
&
John Adamson - Model / Maquette Making
We had two great
talks by Club Members
Nick Pantelides talked about bone carving. He had become
interested in this after seeing the Mauri work in New Zealand.
He had expertimented with various types of bone and other
materials but found cattle leg bones the best. It sounded
quite a smelly cleaning process, followed by an easy carving process
and a long time polishing. The results are spectacular.
John Adamson talked about model / maquette and templates as a way of
solving carving problems. Traditionall clay was used to make
maquettes but plastecine is an easier alternative. For templates
he uses cardboard and plastic.
