HEYWOOD
CHARITIES FETE 2009
This show gave
us a chance to exhibit closer to home. After a
wet August, the sunny day brought out the crowds.
Many children and families showed interest, some coming back for a
second and third time. Knife culture today makes it difficult to
encourage children to carve.
This week it was announced that Boy Scouts will not be able to carry
knives at Scout Camp. At the moment they are allowed - but parents have
to carry them to and from the camp. This is a sad sign of the times.
How will they learn to handle knives safely?

| I hope that this picture illustrates some
of the hard work members put in to set up a show. |

| This picture also shows out recently
revived stands. They have been repaired,
improved, made sturdier but lighter over the years, and most recently
cleaned and varnished. |
