Lancashire and Cheshire Woodcarvers

20th May 2006 - Design Workshop for Club Projects

We covered two projects: the 2007 Found Wood carving and the 2006 Noah's Ark carvings.

John Adamson is running a workshop on Found Wood carving in November and wanted members to go out and find some wood to carve whilst it was warm and sunny, rather than in November when there would be leaves on the ground.    He defined found wood as not machined and showed members various worked examples

Members then worked on the designs and /or carvings for the Noah's Ark project with everyone helping out with suggestions and advice.  The Noahs Ark project is being organised by the Geisler Moroder Carving School in Austria. It will consist of an Exhibition in Austria of carvings from all over the world and commences in the Autumn 2006.  Visitors to the Exhibition will contribute to a charity called SOS Childrens Villages,  see web site www.sos-childrensvillages.org    Basically it gives orphanned children a place to live and be brought up in a stable environment.
