16th Sepember - Pyrography by George Moore and Colin Wilson We found, some years ago, that members enjoyed talks from other members as much as they did from 'big name' paid for speakers, todays excellent talks proved that point yet again. George and Colin explained the history of what started out as poker work, and has now become a very delicate way of adding interest and detail to wood and leather objects. Of course the modern machines cost more than the old poker that used to be heated in the fire, but one has to pay for that greater accuracy and precision. We were shown lots of examples of their work. One of the advantages of having club members over 'paid for' speakers, is that they are usually a bit more forthcoming about their problems and failures. We often learn more from a mistake than from a perfect example of the work
