I have been carving since 2003 when I enrolled in an evening class.  I have always loved wood and used to imagine what it would be like to be able to whittle and carve to create beautiful pieces.  Through those initial classes and lots of encouragement and support from club members I now can produce carvings I’m proud of.  However, what I have discovered through woodcarving is not just the end product but the process on the way to that completed piece.  Carving for me creates a stillness and peace that is totally absorbing.  It is a craft and skill that I will never stop learning about.  Every new piece creates new challenges both physically and mentally.  I choose carving projects that are diverse from each other to stretch my skills and add to my enjoyment!
