I was always fascinated by woodcarving, woodturning, or anything artistic.

In 1990, when I was shown by a friend how to turn wood, I was truly hooked, so I joined a woodturning club, to learn more.

One of the speakers to the club did a talk on “Carving on Turnings”.   Again I had to learn how to carve.

At about this time, I was given the chance to join a woodcarving club that was starting in Rochdale.   The club is what is now known as the L & C WOODCARVERS.

As well as carving bone, I carve bone and ivory.

Some of my favourite types of carvings are: Netsuke, Scandinavian, caricatures, and Maori bone carving.

As well as carving I like to make my own tools, i.e. chisels, knives, burrs

I do like to give talks on carving and tool making, and sharing what I know in a question and answer way
