 Profile

Richard has been a keen amateur woodworker for more than 50 years, but started to take an interest in carving on retirement, at the time Lancashire and Cheshire Woodcarvers began.   Although he has produced a variety of work, he particularly enjoys doing relief carvings.  Natural History is another interest, so it is no surprise that wild-life themes often appear in his pieces, although humorous subjects also appeal.  His long-standing enthusiasm for wood, in all its variations, leads him to enjoy experimenting with many different hardwoods, in addition to the carver’s traditional favourite, lime.
