Carving Picnic-Bench Tops at Towneley Park,Burnley 2006
The
club agreed to apply some decorative carving to a number of new and
refurbished picnic-table tops, to be installed near the Riverside Car
Park at Towneley Park, Burnley. Nature themes were chosen, and it was decided to apply one shallow-relief carving at each corner, and the newly-designed club logo at the centre. A session was held, where members developed suitable designs, in the form of drawings, plasticine maquettes, and practice carvings.
The carvings are now being applied to the tables by a working party of members, at the Offshoots Garden at Towneley Park, as the tables become available.
The work is part of a major face-lift to the Towneley Park estate, financed by a Heritage Lottery Grant.
